Combining the history and resources of the other Yale Model United Nations conferences with some of China’s largest and most beautiful cities YMUN China attracts hundreds of high school delegates from across the world for a four-day conference of international diplomacy. YMUN China brings Yale’s most seasoned directors to China, where they lead committees ranging from large General Assemblies such as the World Health Organization to small, specialized committee such as the UN Security Council. In addition to dynamic committee sessions, YMUN China engages delegates with a range of events including leadership, political, cultural and Yale-specific panels. YMUN China also offers delegates the opportunity to explore a country with a storied past and a blossoming future. Over the course of this four-day conference, delegates hone their debating and leadership skills, explore an exciting venue, and forge international and long-lasting friendships.
This year our conference will be held in August in Shanghai. Through our partnership with Sunrise Education, we are working to expand the conference and to improve the services and opportunities we are able to offer participants. The mission of the YMUN-China conference is to provide the experience of an American conference to students throughout China. By engaging students in issues of global importance in the context of Model UN debate we hope to encourage the development of public speaking skills, academic discourse, international awareness, diplomacy and cooperation. Through our partnership with Sunrise International we plan to expand our reach in China so that an ever-increasing number of students will experience the benefits that Yale Model UN has to offer.
