Over spring break 2017, a group of six talented YIRA members, led by Arvin Anoop '18 and Lisa Qian '20, traveled to Budapest, Bucharest, and Prague to study Roma community-building and activism in the face of perpetual human rights abuse.

The group met with activists, government representatives, NGOs (including Amnesty International Hungary, the European Roma Rights Centre and the Open Society Foundation), and professors to better understand the state of the Roma in Europe. As part of the trip's takeaway, the group has been working hard to promote Roma rights norms among college students, particularly to those studying abroad in Europe.

The trip was featured on the Yale Admissions Instagram here and covered by the Yale Daily News here.
